This weekend is father's day, so as I did with mother's day I am thinking about my favorite memories of my dad. There are several and I think it just may be because a dad is a girl's idol. The bond between a father and daughter is a funny one. Dads can say things to daughters that mothers wouldn't dream of (without some silent treatment or fight). Daughters can ask dads for things that they wouldn't dream of asking their mothers (knowing their mothers will answer with a definite no). So here to you Dad, your influence has such an impact on the person I am and who I want to be.
* Standing next to my father with shaving cream
smeared on my face pretending to shave like him.
* Braiding, putting ponytails in, adorning barrettes
all over my father's head while he watched TV.
* Adorning a tool belt before school and
"helping" my dad before I went to school.
* Sitting on my dad's lap driving home
from my grandparent's house.
"I love my father as the stars - he's a bright shining example
and a happy twinkling in my heart."
